Before students begin their academic studies, a matriculation is required. Your matriculation is necessary to even register for classes as well as to use the university’s libraries. With your registration, the university’s registration office effectuates your acceptance as member of the university. Every student is associated to a number, known as a matriculation number. It is an individualised number each student receives and is used for examinations, term papers and presentations. In other countries this may be known as a “student identification (ID) number”.
