U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

The teaching and learning profile depends on the nature of the curricular unit (CU) and the contents type. There are some CU will have sessions of theoretical nature, dedicated to the presentation of subjects and their illustration through application examples, and in theoretical-practical sessions dedicated to solving exercises for students' training. Others are all or almost all practical in laboratories. When the lack of basic knowledge of the students is observed, revisions of core subjects will be made to ensure continuous and sustained learning.

The study program adopts an evidence-based approach on the definition of teaching and learning methodologies. The coherence of teaching and learning methodologies are oriented by the main scientific-pedagogical references in the design of study programs in the context of higher education. Thus, as is verified by the CUs, the SC ensures that the summative assessment methods are appropriate to the type of learning objectives, ensuring that all evaluation elements allow valid assessment of the learning objectives that they intend to evaluate.

The Faculty has activity both in basic and applied research that translates into different outcomes: funded projects, collaborations with international universities, faculty positioned in editorial boards of journals with high impact factor, several manuscripts published in indexed journals, mostly Q1 and Q2, and a set of master’s dissertations. Most of the research developed is in collaboration with Hei Lab, the Faculty research centre, and some stems from the intense collaborations the faculty has with other centres of excellence.
